Tyres and drifting is love hate, i love to wear them out but hate to purchase them. Choosing the right tyre for the right power/ grip/ conditions is such a hard thing to do. The days of second hand scrappies are long gone. For this weekends comp i have a setup for wet and a setup for dry.
Wet: on the front ill be running a 215/45/17 Toyo R1R, chosen because they dont need heat to work, on the rear ill have a 265/35/18 R1R also chosen for the fact they dont need heat and disperse the water better than most
Dry: on the front ill be running 205/40/17 Toyo R888 semi slick, this will be the first time trying these out, im a little worried at the fact they need heat to work properly, i like to slide the front a little so i dont see the size being an issue. On the rear ill be running 235/40/18 Nueton NT5000 for two reasons 1: they are close to $100 and 2: they dont delaminate.
So there you have it, tire selection is one thing i think alot about, i have learnt my lesson being unpreppared in the past. Bring on the weekend!!
